Christmas Day!!!

Are you beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel?
Woohoo...we have finally made it to Christmas DAY!!! :o)

My mom and dad always host Christmas Day. So after our morning together we headed over to Nawnie and Papa's house. First on Landry's list of "to-dos"...show off his collection of bubble guns that Nawnie has for him!

I love the fact that Landry is crouching down...just like Daddy and Poppie!

After another delicious meal...it was time for presents! Can I ask why it is that the smallest person in the house has the LARGEST presents? I'm not even talking about the number of presents...I'm talking size...literally...we had to bring two cars...because all of the gifts wouldn't fit in one car.

Time for a family pic before the marathon begins!

Landry got a bit pooped out...so much so that he wouldn't even smile for a picture...such a stinker!

I think it is safe to say that his favorite gift was...a new vacuum! This one is part of a janitorial cleaning cart that we got him. It really sucks up dirt and everything...he LOVES it! Oh...and he got TWO new vacuums...he was in heaven. :o)

**Time for a public service announcement...a side effect of opening a ton of presents wrapped in glittery ribbon...SPARKLING TODDLER FEET!!!**

Landry loves his Auntie KK!

G.G. and Poppie got him his first motorcycle!

We are still working on getting him to push the pedal and make it go. Mr. Cautious will at least sit on it and push it with his feet...but the minute you try to get him to turn it on and put the "petal to the metal" he says, "No. I don't want to wide it!"

**Side note...the motorcycle...plays the loudest Asian inspired music EVER! If you want to feel like you are in an Asian karaokee bar...we've got your sound track. Seriously. :o)

Before our day came to an end we had to get some family shots...

Soon-to-be Uncle Ron, Landry, and Auntie KK

Nawnie, Landry, and Papa

Poppie, Landry, and G.G.

and finally...the three of us!

Here is my favorite because it captures the love and fun that we have together! Landry Tigh...I hope you know how much you are loved. I have no idea what we did before we had you in our life...but I know one thing is for sure...it certainly was pretty boring! :)

Christmas Morning

I know...I am kind of stretching out my Christmas posts...sorry! It is just that there were so many fun things that happened this year and I want to make sure I get as much written down as possible so that I don't forget them.

So, even though Landry wasn't very enthusiastic about Santa coming...the jolly man still stopped by and left a few things under the tree for Handsome!

On Christmas morning Landry decided to sleep in...so did Chad. I was the one that was up waiting for everyone to wake up!!! Finally Landry woke up and was excited to see what Santa brought him. :)

Digging right in...

a Mickey Mouse sippy cup...

candy canes...the stocking could have been filled with just candy canes and Landry would have been thrilled!

Next...2 new light up toothbrushes...

and best of all...a new TRICYCLE!!!!

In true Landry fashion...he wanted to use his new toothbrush right away. :)

Brushing is serious business!

I think that he may have decided that Santa isn't too bad after all. :o)

Milk and Cookies for Santa???

After we spent a wonderful evening at Gary and Mary's on Christmas Eve, it was time for us to come home and get ready for bed...and Santa!

First thing we had to do was finish up our Christmas Book Advent with my all-time favorite...
The Polar Express!

Landry sat on my lap, listened intently to every word, and then "read" it all by himself afterwards.

As you know by now, Landry is NOT fan of the big man in the red suit. After we read our story I told him that he should pick out some cookies to leave for Santa. Here is how the conversation went...

"Landry, before we go nigh-nigh you need to choose some cookies to leave for Santa. He is going to come to our house tonight and leave you presents."

"Nope, I don't WANT Santa come to my house!"

"Remember when you went to see Santa, he gave you a candy cane. I think it would be really nice if you gave him some of your cookies."

"No. Santa not come to my house."

"Well, Santa has to come and get your elf so that your elf can go back to Santa's house."

"Santa not coming to my house."

"Ok. How about we choose some cookies and we can send them to Santa?"

Looking very interested he says, "You mean I go to Santa's house?"

"No. Mommy and Daddy can take them to Santa's house...or give them to Santa when he comes tonight. Don't you want Santa to have some of your cookies? What about your elf? Can we leave some cookies for your elf to have when he goes with Santa?"

"Ok. I get some for Santa and my elf."

"Ok. Let's leave him some milk, too."

"NO. No milk...just cookies."

"Ok...just cookies it is!"

So, I let him choose his cookies and we put them on the plate, on the table by the Christmas tree. He very willingly goes over to the tree so that I can get a picture.

After I take the picture he points to our front door and says...

"Wook, Mama!"

"What Landry?"

"Its Santa...he's HERE!"

"Santa? Santa's here? Where is he?"...I'm looking around, rather confused.

"He's owside, Mama. I hear him!"

"Oh, well if he is outside you have to go to sleep right now. Santa can't come in until you are asleep."

"Ok, Mama...I go nigh-nigh now."

Off he went...running down the hallway to his crib. I went in, put him down, and out he went!

I couldn't believe it! I didn't think he was ever going to agree to leave Santa any cookies. Finally I got him talked in to it but milk was OUT of the question. Then, with his crazy imagination, he tells me that Santa is at our house and that he hears him outside. I'm telling you, the child cracks us up, keeps us on our toes, and continues to amaze us each day!

Christmas Eve Festivities

For the past three years...since Landry was born...we have spent Christmas Eve at Chad's aunt and uncle's house...Gary and Mary's. Mary is the hostess of all hostesses. She is an amazing cook and always has the most delicious food! Monday night was no exception...there were stuffed mushrooms, shrimp cocktail, yalanchi, cheese borag (I have no idea how to spell it,) cream cheese stuffed jalapenos wrapped in bacon, Pam's delicious chicken brunch braid, and so much more.

Landry got to open up some special gifts. Gary and Mary gave him a cool fire truck and construction truck that run all by themselves.

Aunt Barbara gave him the perfect "pet" dog! Really...it is perfect. It is an adorable, tiny, brown and white dog that walks, barks, and will even follow you around!

G.G. and Poppie got him a gift that is unlike anything else. What's inside?

Its a dancing cow!!! Yup, the cow has "moos like Jagger!" Really...it dances to the song, "Moves Like Jagger"...and you're welcome for getting the song stuck in your head! :o)

Not quite sure what to make of the dancing cow!

Big kisses for G.G.

Landry was in love with Gary and Mary's Christmas tree.

It had a rope light, with chasing lights, that went around the bottom. Landry loved to sit and watch them...especially with Brooke.

Kelli...not so much! She finally won him over with a video. ;o)

Here are some great shots of the Tigh side of the family...Chad's mom's side! :o)

Huge thanks to Whitney Frank of Whitney Frank Photography for our amazing family photos and to Kristine Schroeder with KDS Designs for our beautiful cards!!!

CBA: Day 23: The Gingerbread Man

We are almost there...take a look at what day 23 brought...

Yesterday was a busy day. We spent most of it baking and decorating cookies with Nawnie. Handsome was a trooper and went all day without a nap! After we had cleaned up our cookie mess what else was there to do but make a gingerbread house mess! He he!!

No nap didn't stop this one from being excited to create his own gingerbread house!

While the house was "setting" we decorated the tree for the front yard. I put the frosting on and he put the candies on.

Time to build the snowman!

I had some old licorice in the pantry...from who knows when...yummy...so we used that to border the roof. Once again, I added the frosting...he put on the candies. He chose the candies and put them wherever he wanted to.

Gum drops for one side of the roof...

M&Ms for the other side. I tried REALLY hard to get him to use gum drops on both sides of the roof so that it would match. But he told me, "No, mama...dis is MY house."
Very true Handsome...very true! :o)

Here is the final product...the view of the front yard...

Side one...

the backyard...

and side two!

Once again...someone was sooooooooo proud of his work!

This morning, when he woke up, he came running out, saw the house and said, "Cookie right der...I made dat house!"
