Whimsy Wednesday - 4th of July designs

About a week ago I told you that there were a few "series" I would like to do on my blog. I already started one..."Mommy Moment Mondays"...hope you are liking them...and if you have any of your own moments, please share them with me! :o)

The other one that I will be starting is "Whimsy Wednesdays." Some of you may know that I have a teeny, tiny, itsy, bitsy, "side business"...a hint of whimsy. I create custom made onesies, t-shirts, burp cloth sets, hooded towels, pillowcase dresses, and so much more. My goal this summer is to create more products. In order to help me reach my goal I have decided to feature one new item a week...this way I will stay on task and keep creating!

This week I am featuring some brand new 4th of July onesie designs. Take a look:

I would love it if you would leave me a comment and let me know what you think! If you are interested in ordering anything, you can e-mail me, leave a comment or visit my Etsy shop...there is a link on the sidebar. Don't forget...all of these designs can be made on a onesie, t-shirt, or tank top...and they don't have to be just for kids! As always...if there is something you don't like, or would like changed...let me know...I aim to create pieces especially made for you!

More from the Real World!

So, this past week I received some more photos of cute little ones in my creations. The first is absolutely the most handsome little man ever. I had made his mom one of the "Executive" onesies as a shower gift before he was born. Then just a few weeks ago she contacted me and wanted to know if I could make a Christmas version of the "Executive." So, I headed to my faithful ol' JoAnns, found some adorable Christmas stripe fabric and here is the result...and here is Liam, wearing his "Executive" onesie for his meet-n-greet with Santa... Tell me that he isn't too cute for words!
Now the next set of photos are as precious as "Cherry Pie"...sorry, I know that was cheesy but I couldn't resist. This darling little girl, Baker, is so dang cute you just want to pick her up and give her a big hug! Her mom came across my blog this past summer and contacted me about making one of my pillowcase dresses for her. She was so sweet and sent me the pictures of their photo shoot...and of course I couldn't resist posting them...especially since they are so darn cute. Check her out...

My Work in the Real World!

As a teacher I am blessed each year with getting to know some absolutely wonderful families. Many times these families become a part of my "adopted" family...I think of their children as my own and the moms and I become great friends. This post is honoring one of those families! I had the pleasure of having their son in my class two years ago and Kim (mom) and I are still good friends. Kim has been so supportive of my side venture and always gives me a "shout-out" when she posts her pictures on Facebook. So, like any proud mom...here are some pics of my work...in the real world! Thank you Kim and family for all of your support and love!!!!! This is Kim's niece...
Kim and her family on vacation in Florida...the girls are wearing their "Mocha Splash" pillowcase dresses.

How sweet is this...nothing beats a ride on Daddy's shoulders!
***Sorry the pics are so small...I "stole" them from Kim's Facebook page! :o)

Boy, Oh Boy!

So, I know I'm kinda mean...did the title make you think that we were having a boy? Well, I hate to disappoint but...we don't know yet! December 9th is the day we will find out if we are having a Lilly or a Landry...so, I'll keep you posted.

Actually this is an update of some "new" designs I have for onesies. The reason I say "new" is because some of these were created oh, a mere 3 months ago...so I'm a bit behind on my blogging...shoot me! Anyway, if you work with me, you know that everyone at Riverview has baby boys...I really mean EVERYONE! There has only been 1 girl born in the last 5 years...CRAZY! So, with all of the little boys runnin' around I have created some "boy-friendly" designs. Enjoy!!!!
By the way...if you are interested in ordering something I have a new e-mail address...thanks to some lovely cyber-hackers...you can reach me at ahintofwhimsy@gmail.com!

Be sure to check back soon...I am working on some pretty cute Christmas crafts and yes...Christmas has exlpoded at the Lofgren house!

A Week Full of Whimsy!

Isn't it funny how things can be going along, kind of calm, and then all of a sudden it is crazy? Well, I can't say that things are totally crazy...trust me it could get so much worse...but this past week I have been quite busy with my "whimsy" venture. Strangers are actually buying my dresses...crazy, right? The Etsy orders keep on coming. Even though I love to make things for those I have never met, I really enjoy making something special for those I love and care about. So, when my sweet friend Erin asked me to make some gifts for her friends I was so excited. Here's what she designed and I created:Perfect for the future "Executive!"Gotta love anything personalized! And...the "piece de resistance"...say it out loud...it really adds to the story...I promise!Seriously, is this not precious! Erin, I love your ideas and thank you for letting me create this. Total side note...a word to anyone associated with JoAnn's...what is the deal with you not carrying every fabric I fall in love with? Yup, you heard it right...three times in the past couple of months I have purchased some fabric, fallen in love with it...and then, when I need more...it is no where to be found...ANNOYED!
Now, on a totally different note...check out my home project. I am in love with it! So, my long lost friend, Carrie...check out her blog All Things Llanos on the sidebar...is always doing amazing home projects. She also has some cool links to other blogs that she says she "stalks"...which I love...and I myself have found myself "stalking" her "stalked" blogs. So, one of my favorites, Thrifty Decor Chick, had a project she had done in her home with wooden squares and scrapbooking paper. Well, I took the idea, twisted it a bit, gave it my name...literally...and I love it. It is three artists canvases that I bought at Michaels. Then used Modge Podge and paint to"glue" damask printed scrapbook paper on top. After a few coats of paint and Modge Podge, a few dark brown accents to give it a bit of an aged feel, and some black paint, I have this really cool monogrammed wall decor to hang in my entry way. How cool is that? And the best part...it only cost about $15...yay for that!!!

Two more for the pickin'

Here are two more designs from the "whimsy workshop!" These are the "French Floursh" and "Royal" designs...each one is $15. As always...if you like the design but want it in a different color just let me know...or if you want it on a different color onesie I can do that, too! Smiles!

fresh from the "whimsy" factory

Well, if anyone has spoken to my husband in the past 24 hours he will tell you how OBSESSED I am with my latest venture. Yes, I have a notebook that is FULL of ideas, yes, I did stay up until about 1 in the morning last night because my brain was going a million miles an hour...and my husband was snoring rather loudly...and yes, I went to JoAnns nice and early this morning to get new fabrics plus tons of other goodies. So, here are my latest designs. I am calling them, "The Executive," and the "Trenzie"...the last one is a combo I made up for Trent and Kenzie...two new little ones that will be receiving their "hint of whimsy" in the near future! Pass them on if you would like...please know that any of the color combos can be changed and of course I am always up for suggestions. SMILES!

Add "a hint of whimsy" to your life!

So, as many of you know...I am a girl who loves to create things. I often find myself in a boutique or store, looking at something that is darling, and telling myself, "I could totally make that myself." So, after hearing..."You should totally start your own business," over and over again...I have decided to take the plunge. Yes, I know you probably can't believe it...either can I...but "a hint of whimsy" is here and with us. I am starting with custom made and embellished onesies, baby blankets, as well as name letters for children's bedrooms and nurseries. These onesies are the first items I have completed but there will be more coming! I do have an online store up and running...if you are interested, you can go to http://www.ahintofwhimsy.etsy.com/ to check it out. I am very excited about this new venture and I know it is going to be great. So, if you are looking to add "a hint of whimsy" to your life, let me know!
