Super Bowl 2014

Last Sunday we had all of our friends over for the big game!
Some people have some chips, dip, pizza, buffalo wings...not me. I like to go all out for Super Bowl!
Here is the invite that I created...

Yes, I was pretty proud of it...and the fact that I made it all by myself. :)

It's not a party without decorations...

Believe it or not, I already had most of the materials that I used to make my decorations. I always keep any of my decor items so that I can possibly reuse them...this party had a lot of recycled items.
I made the tissue poms, the green and yellow circles were left over from Landry's 2nd birthday party.

Mason jars and burlap runner were from my sister's bridal shower. I made the pennants with paper I already had. The footballs are upside down bowls that were purchased in a 2-pack at The Dollar Tree.

My "big splurge"...besides food...was the astro turf. Lowes sells it by the foot...for a little less than $5 per foot. The guy was pretty confused when I asked for 2 one foot strips. So much so that he reminded me that one foot was only 12 inches. :) He finally just asked what I was using two 1'x12' strips of turf for. He was a bit surprised when I told him it was for my Super Bowl Party decor. :)

Here is the kitchen and all of the yummies! I also made the goal posts...thanks to Pinterest for the idea. I was told that they will "need" to make appearances at next year's Fresno State tailgates. :)

I covered the counter with brown packing paper, that I already had, then the turf, food, goal posts...success!

You might remember that last year I did a hot dog bar. I love the idea of a food bar. This year, it was a chili bar! We had traditional chili and Brian's super delicious white bean/turkey chili. Seriously. It is amazing!

We had a TON of other snacks/treats to eat.

For some reason I didn't get pictures of the rest of the food. There were some "oldie but goodies" such as "Vince Lombardy Veggies," "First Down Fruit Salad," "Gridiron Guacamole," "Sack the Quarterback Salsa," "Blindside Brownie Bites," and "Chain Gang Chili Dip." We also enjoyed Sheri's famous "Pass, Punt, Kick Pasta Salad" and "Kick-off Cakes" - cupcakes.

Of course, it isn't really a Super Bowl Party until you have the betting squares.
This year I laminated our chart so that we can use it again and again. :)

Oh...and the team logos are completely removable.

Last year everyone learned...if you are a winner...you get your picture taken...just like at Table Mountain. :)

First quarter winner...

 Second quarter winner...

Do you see a trend?

Third quarter winner...

Yep, it was Ryan...AGAIN!!!!!!!!! He had to leave early to go to work so he wasn't present for his picture.

The big winner for the fourth quarter......

ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The game wasn't the best game ever...I even think Seahawk's fans would agree...but we still had a good time. It was a bit crazy in our house with a million children running around crazy...bit is an understatement.

Here are two cuties that always have fun together.
No matter how long it has been since they have seen each other...they pick up right where they left off.
They really do love each other!
Sweet Amy and Landry...this photo will be in their wedding slideshow!

Super Bowl Sunday!

Are you ready for some football? Well, if you answered, "yes"...you're out of luck...because the season is over! :)

We have adopted the tradition of hosting Super Bowl...and I LOVE it! This year was a little extra special because Chad...and pretty much all of our friends...are HUGE Niners fans. So, I had no choice but to go all out for my man. :)

Here's the invite...not to be confused with an actual Super Bowl ticket...

Our guests were welcomed with this on the door...

of course you have to have a banner...

and it isn't a party without some balloons and food!

Most of you know that I have a very abnormal love for naming my party food. Really. It is a bit abnormal. It really brings me almost as much fun as the actual party. And yes, I do crack myself up with my names...ask my hubby...I think I'm pretty clever sometimes! :)

So, here starts that parade of food pictures...

I told myself that these were for the kiddos...honestly, I used it as an excuse to buy some for me. I also have a secret love affair with these tiny pockets of pb&j!

Of course there were the "usuals"...Chain Gang Chili Dip, Super Bowl Salsa, Grid Iron Guacamole, Coin Toss Cream Cheese and Chili Sauce...and new this year...

A build your own hot dog bar...

I made a list of some NFL inspired hot dog recipes...and here were all of the fixings!

I also had some toys and activities for the kids...even though they never touched them! Ha!!!

Even the "big kids" had their own game!

Cue the good ol' Super Bowl Squares! Do you see a little mister in the mix in the picture above? Yup...he was all about the squares and even bought a few of his own!

Nothing says Super Bowl like bouncing on the trampoline...right?

1st quarter ended...and Dave was the big winner! This is actually a picture of him with his 1st AND 3rd quarter winnings. :)

Sheri was the big winner at half-time!

After we all watched Beyonce and her amazing performance...I had my own special presentation for Brian. During our FSU football season Brian did an amazing job of planning all of our tailgate meals, coordinating who would bring what, etc. So, I felt it was only fitting to give him his own trophy...for the Champion of Tailgate Planning! Apparently this very expensive trophy needed a bit longer to "cure" because some of the gold rubbed off on his fingers...so now he also goes by the name Goldfinger! :)

Warning...there is a slightly vulgar picture following...with some middle digits pointing at each other...

Brian was NOT very happy that Dave won the 3rd quarter, too...on a square that he bought off Brian. Yup. Won twice on the same square!

Guess what...end of the game came...and the big winner was...

Yup...our Little Man was the big winner at the end of the game...he was soooooooooo excited!

He immediately wanted to put it in his pig! He definitely gets that from his daddy. :)

Can you tell that he loves putting money in his pig?

Here's a shot of our sweet family! Even though the game didn't end the way most people wanted to...it was a great game, a fun time, lots of food, and tons of friends...overall...VICTORY!

Yes, I made my own shirt...with the Dallas Cowboy's star in Niner colors...it is the closest I could come to wearing/rooting for the Niners. I mean, my son is named LANDRY afterall! :)

Super Bowl!

So, it is safe to say that I have not been the best blogger in 2012. I have a lot of ideas...and really had planned to do a lot more posts...but...well...it just hasn't happened! Ha!!!

What better way to get back on the "bloggin' saddle" than to do a Super Bowl post? Well, if I had actually taken pictures of more than just the food...it would have been a much better post. But, I didn't...so, you are left with just pictures of our food. :o)

Thank you, Pinterest for giving me some of the ideas...and recipes. Yes, there will be a lot more blogging about Pinterest! :o)

Oh, I did get a picture of the cutest football fan and his chocolate frosting mustache!!!!

Can you believe that this little one is almost 2? How in the world did that happen? Don't worry...I have been plannin' his party...since like June. :o) You do know that I'm crazy...right?

Well, that's all I have for tonight. I promise to get to bloggin'...be on the look out for some posts about Pinterest, my 2012 "to-do" list...and probably some posts featuring my super cute, super sweet, pretty much amazing in every way, little boy! :o)

A bunch of food pictures...and the Super Bowl!

As we all know...yesterday was "the big game!" Now, I have a few confessions to start off with...1. I LOVE the Super Bowl! Really...I do. I am actually a fan of most sports but watching football is one of my favorites. 2. I love any excuse to "throw a party"...lately they have all been very last-minute, "Hey Chad and Kristin you can host..." kind of things but they are still fun. 3. I only took 1 picture during the game...yup one picture...it is a SUPER cute picture...but it is just 1.

Don't worry though...as the title of this post says...I have a lot of pictures of the food. I got a little bored on Saturday night...so, I decided to make some nametags for all of our snacks. Any of you that know me know two things for sure...1. I am very Type A, 2. I love any excuse to put a label on something! So, I am warning you...here are some of our game day snacks...

And because I am really Type A and get a "bit" carried away with little labels...I even made these for the trash and recycling...yes, I am FULLY aware that I am a bit, just a bit...C-R-A-Z-Y! :o)

You have to show off your team spirit!
I put this sign on our front door...just so there wasn't any confusion over who we were rooting for!
The food "line-up!" We also had Chili "Cheesehead" Dip, Broccoli "Blitz" Slaw, and "McCarthy" Meatballs. Told you. Just a bit C-R-A-Z-Y...and yes, I did Google football terms so that I was accurate with my phrases!
Don't you worry...Landry was showing his "Packer Pride," too...oh, and did I mention that this adorable, little man was nine, frickin' months old yesterday? More on that later!
Here is the 1 and only picture I took during the game...our dear friend, Kelley and Landry...told you it was SUPER cute!
Here is my clean up crew for the after-party...what, you don't see the crew? Ya...me either...but I did have the cutest "supervisor" ever...he may look harmless but he is a slave driver! :o)

So, there you have it. I warned you...a bunch of pictures of some food...and a few of the cutest baby in the whole entire world. :o) We had an absolutely great time with all of the wonderful friends who came over...thank you, Donovans, Richardsons, Caves, Troy, Brian, Dana, Maggie, and Davis...GO PACKERS!

***Did I mention that we aren't even Packers Fans? Ha!***
