Easter Part 2...The Hunt!

Yesterday I shared part of our Easter festivities...and as promised...here is how we spent the rest of the day...hunting Easter Eggs!!!

At first Landry wasn't really sure what he was supposed to do...but he quickly got the hang of it. :o) The first egg he found, he opened it up and discovered that there was NO candy inside. He looked at me, with "the look," and said, "Nuting in here, Mommy!" He seemed a bit annoyed that there wasn't candy inside them. :o)

"What's in here?'

"I see it, Mommy...I see it!"

Landry is really funny when it comes to dirt. Funny as in...he's not such a fan of it! He LOVES to be outside but if he gets any dirt on his hands he immediately comes over and says, "Ewwwww, Mommy...ewww!" It totally cracks me up...Chad...not so much. :o) So, during the hunt he was rather hesitant to go into the flower beds to get the eggs.

If he picked up an egg that had dirt on it he would hold it up and say, "Yuck...egg...yucky...ewwww," and he would not put it in the basket until one of us cleaned it off.

Getting some help from Great Nana...and Nawnie, too.

If he found an egg in a plant he would yell out, "Mommy...fower...fower, Mommy...I see it!"

While we were outside hunting eggs...here's what my dad and Chad were doing...watching the Master's!

Landry had a blast...and we had a blast watching him find his eggs...even if some were "yucky!" Here he is showing off his loot...such a proud boy!

If you are wondering about the hat...well...of course there is a story. :o) On Saturday Chad was working on my car's tire and he had his hat on backwards. Since then, anytime Landry wears a hat it has to be just like Daddy. If I try to put it on facing forward he will grab it, turn it around and say, "Hat like Daddy, Mommy!" Then he turns it around and walks away. It totally melts my heart when he wants to do things just like his daddy!

Easter 2012

I really cannot believe that Easter has come and gone. Of course that also means that my Spring Break has come and gone...tomorrow it is back to the real world. :o(

Landry got a bit of a head start on the Easter celebrations. He got a special package from G.G. and Poppie on Saturday...and couldn't wait to dig in to the basket.

My child is such a ham...all I had to ask was, "Landry...can I take a picture before you open your basket?" He scooted right next to the basket, put his hands on his lap, and said, "cheeeeeeeese!" LOVE IT!
His basket was FULL of lots of goodies! He immediately found an adorable little cage that had chocolate "munnies" a.k.a - bunnies, in it. He was so cute and said, "shhh...munnies...seeping." Apparently the bunnies were sleeping. :o)

 "Munny?" Nope...that's a fox!

Along with two books and goldfish crackers...there were three "carrots"...filled with Reese's Pieces. As you can see...Landry knew just what to do with them. :o)

On Sunday morning Landry woke up and found a trail of eggs that were left by the Easter Bunny!

Since he had practice the day before...he knew exactly what to do! First..."cheese!"

Then it was time to give the "munny" some love.

There were also "cackers," a book, a bubble gun, "gasses," and sports eggs filled with "nandy!"

He is a true Lofgren and went right for the gun...Poppie would be proud!

The "cackers"...animal cookies...were a bit too big to take out by himself.

He quickly discovered that the eggs were filled with "nandy!" Don't judge...but yes, his breakfast was M&Ms...I know...there goes that "Mom of the Year" award...again!

I'm bugging out over all of this "nandy!"

Testing out the bubble gun...there will be a whole post on this later. Let's just say that we have gone through 2 small bottles of bubbles, half of a big bottle, and 4 batteries...the child LOVES bubbles. :o)

Sorry for the blurry picture...I think my camera is about to bite the dust. Hint hint...Mother's Day is just around the corner, Babe! :o)

We had Easter at our house...which I loved. Here is the table...

The two men in my life!

While we were waiting for my parents and Nana to come over Landry decided to turn the bubble gun into a hair dryer! ;o)

Once my parents and Nana arrived...it was time for...more baskets!!!!

Basket opening is much easier if you stand up...especially when the baskets are as big as you. :o)

Now it's time for the 4th basket! I didn't get as many pictures...I think I was putting batteries in another bubble gun...yup TWO bubble guns...heaven for a bubble loving little boy!

After that we went out and hid eggs. I will post more about that tomorrow...because this is already a REALLY long post. We enjoyed a yummy dinner...if I do say so myself. :o)

My favorite Pinterest recipe discovery...bacon wrapped chicken

We had a great afternoon...full of fun, chocolate, family, chocolate, no naps, chocolate, egg hunts, chocolate, and a bit of a melt down when someone was told he had to come inside. :o)

More on the egg hunt tomorrow!

A Day to "Dye" For!

To say that I have been having so much fun with Landry is a bit of an understatement...with the exception of Wednesday and Thursday...not sure what happened on those two days but I am pretty sure someone stole by child and gave me...well...an almost 2 year old. :) Yes, we are getting a bit "independent" over here...and if you know the code for "independent" then you know it isn't fun!
But I will have more on that later! :o)

Back to the fun part!

Since Landry took his picture with the live bunnies...or munnies as they are called in our house...he has talked about them non-stop. So yesterday morning I decided to do a little "craft" with Landry.
I saw the idea on Pinterest and put my own little spin on it.

First, you need one of these:

You will also need some cardstock, brown paint, white paint, a paintbrush, black pen, and a green crayon.

You start by painting one thumb and printing it as many times as you would like. We were making six different cards, with three bunnies on each card...
you can obviously do however many you would like.

Next, paint the index finger and print it on top of the thumb...these are you bunny heads! :o)

Then I went ahead and painted on ears and tail,
drew some grass,
and whiskers,
and voila...
cute, little cotton-tail bunnies!

Then you can add a cute little note...
and of course a picture is always perfect...
there you have it...
who wouldn't want to get that card in the mail?

While I was putting the finishing touches on Landry's "munnies" he wanted to keep painting. So, I gave him a brush and a paper plate with some water...kept him busy!

He loved painting with the water...and tried to recreate his own art!

 "Painting...pinger...mama."

The fun didn't stop there!
Later in the afternoon my mom came over and we colored Easter eggs!!!
Cue...the naked baby:

I don't think I have ever shared with you how modest Landry is.
Yes, he HATES to be without an item of clothing.
He gets extremely embarrassed if leave him in just his diaper or don't put a shirt on him right away. So it took him a bit to get used to sitting in his chair with no shirt on. :o)

We tried a few different strategies...
even the Pinterest whisk idea...
which didn't work so well for us...
whisk was too big and the cups were too small.
So we just went with the cup...
in a larger dish to catch "spashes" as Landry called them...
and a "poon" to stir with.

He was so funny...
every egg started with a "wow"...
and of course...
egg dyeing is a very serious job for Landry.

He quickly discovered that he could make music with the spoon in the dish and that became a game in of itself.

Ta-da...our final product...lots of colorful eggs!
