Good-bye, Kindergarten!

How is it even possible that I can be typing that?
Good-bye, Kindergarten.
How is it possible that my "little man"
has finished kindergarten?

Whether I like it or not...
it is true!

It seems like I was just writing about his first day.
You can read all about it here.

Principal extraordinaire, Mrs. Erickson

He entered as a shy, quiet, little boy.

Who...even though he could already read
a few words...
was convinced that he was never going to be able to read!

Fast forward a month or so...
enjoying a donut at Donuts with Dad...

showing his American pride at the All American Jog-A-Thon!

He even got to hang out with Auntie K.K. and I
at the Clovis East Pigskin for Pink!

He went on his very first field trip...
pumpkin patch or bust!

I survived my first field trip as a parent chaperone. :)

That shy little boy, quickly became a silly,
confident, social butterfly!

He tried a new sport...basketball!

He learned a TON!
He reads everything in front of him,
asks me about signs he sees...that most of the time I don't :),
can add, subtract, count in patterns, and
even glue 100 M&Ms down for the 100th day of school!

We went to our first...
and possibly last :( ...
Mother-Son Dance!

He was a much bigger fan of the frozen yogurt
afterwards then he was the dance part.

Next up...Muffins with Mom!

There were many "life lessons"
learned...especially during lunch time.
He even had to sit at the "naughty table" one time.

If you are in Clovis...you have to celebrate Rodeo Days!

I took my favorite 6 year old out to lunch
on his birthday...
to his favorite place...
McDonald's of course.

Of course elementary school isn't complete without
a CARNIVAL!!!!!

This past week was a week of fun.
One of the highlights...Olympic Day!

Thursday we got to come to
his classroom and learn a little bit
about what it is like to be a kindergartener.

His class sang, "The Grand Old Flag."

Yes, it is kind of hard to see him in these videos...sorry!

The kids also showed us their two favorite dances...
The Tootie-ta...

and nothing says kindergarten like a little Whip and Ney, Ney!

For some reason I wasn't able to load the video directly here...
don't know why...
but you can click HERE to see it. :)

After their performances we watched the sweetest slide
show that was put together by Landry's teacher.
Here he is...
our "Little Man" who isn't so little anymore.

He and his buddy, Cruz.

He was so lucky to have a wonderful aid
in his class, Mrs. Solley...
who happens to know Auntie K.K. ;)

Landry and his "O"mazing teacher,
Mrs. McFarland!

We couldn't be more proud of how much he has grown
academically, socially, emotionally, and
how his confidence has soared.

He started the year hanging out with me before school
when I had cafeteria duty...
and then he got to the point where
he would take off to class without even saying good-bye.
As much as I was hurting that he hadn't said good-bye,
I was so proud of him for having the confidence to take off on his own.

Yesterday was his last day of kindergarten.
He cried himself to sleep the last three nights
because he didn't want kindergarten to end.

His class performed a song in the talent show...
complete with sign language.

He is convinced that 1st grade is going to be too hard. :)
He is sad to say good-bye to two of his closest friends
who are moving on to other schools next year.
Oh, Landry Tigh!

You have a heart of gold...and according to your teacher...
are quite the "heart-breaker" with the ladies. :)
We know that you are going to do GREAT next year.
We love you more than you know
and are more proud of you than you can imagine.
But...
could you please slow down just a bit?

  1. Well, now that I have cried off all of my mascara, I just want Landry to know how proud Poppie & are of him! We also want to give kudos to his Mom & Dad for raising such an adorable, smart, sweet human being! Obviously you two are doing something right. Thank you so much for loving our grandchildren! XOXOXO
